Diana Gabaldon, Bestselling Outlander Author, to Visit Pender County During North Carolina First in Freedom Festival and the 250th Anniversary of Moores Creek

The North Carolina First in Freedom Festival, in partnership with Moores Creek National Battlefield, the Moores Creek Battleground Association, and supporting partners, is proud to announce a special visit from internationally acclaimed author Diana Gabaldon, creator of the bestselling Outlander series. Gabaldon’s historical novels, beloved by millions worldwide, have brought to life the Revolutionary War era in North Carolina, particularly that from Moores Creek National Battlefield — making her visit during this milestone anniversary especially meaningful.

As part of the First in Freedom Festival, a region-wide celebration of eastern North Carolina’s role in America’s independence, and the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Moores Creek Bridge, a pivotal Revolutionary War victory that took place in Pender County in 1776, Gabaldon will join commemorative events focused around Moores Creek National Battlefield.

“Diana Gabaldon’s work has inspired countless readers to connect with North Carolina’s Revolutionary past,” said Jim Buell, Chairperson of the NCFIFF. “We are honored to welcome her to Pender County during this historic commemoration, as we celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the Battle at Moores Creek Bridge.”

The North Carolina First in Freedom Festival will unite communities across eastern North Carolina through historical reenactments, educational programs, arts, music, and cultural experiences, culminating in America’s 250th anniversary in 2026. Moores Creek, known as the site of the first significant Patriot victory in the American Revolution, will serve as a focal point of statewide celebrations.

Details of Diana Gabaldon’s scheduled appearances, book signings, and speaking engagements will be released in the coming weeks.
